Get Involved

The Student Refugee Program is made possible through the financial contributions of partner organizations, institutions and foundations as well as the generosity of our global community of supporters who donate to the program each year.

If you are a student, faculty member, or staff at a post-secondary institution in Canada, consider joining your institution's WUSC Local Committee to help support incoming students through the Student Refugee Program. If you don’t have one, talk to your institution about the Student Refugee Program at WUSC. For more information, visit https://wusc.ca/volunteer/ or email [email protected] .

We invite all universities, colleges, and CEGEPs in Canada to demonstrate their leadership in responding to the global refugee crisis by joining our Student Refugee Program. Please contact us at [email protected] or 1-800-267-8699.

There are many ways you can still get involved with the Student Refugee Program!

Donate: If you would like to make a donation to support the resettlement and education needs of refugees, consider making a donation to the Student Refugee Program .

Fundraise: You can also mobilize your community to join you in showing support for young people whose lives and educations have been interrupted by crisis. Register to create your personal WUSC volunteer fundraising page here and support the Student Refugee Program. Reach out to your network to inform them why this cause matters to you and ask them to donate on your page. You can also create a fundraiser by pledging to do a physical challenge, such as a run, or hosting an event, such as a dinner, workshop or movie screening, and collect donations on your page.

Raise Awareness: Share information with your friends and family about the global refugee crisis and what they can do to help.

Partner with Us: If you represent a company or organization that is not a post-secondary institution, there may still be a way for your community to get involved. WUSC has been piloting new approaches to refugee resettlement that mobilizes other actors in Canada. Read more about our recent resettlement work with Canadian workplaces through a new employment-linked pathway and our work with the International Olympic Committee Refugee Olympic Team through a new sports-linked pathway. Contact us to learn more at [email protected] .

The Student Refugee Program currently only operates in Canada. However, WUSC has been supporting stakeholders in other countries to explore and adapt the model to their unique country context. Read more in our recent report, Building Education Pathways for Refugees: Mapping a Canadian Peer-to-Peer Support Model . Contact us to learn more at [email protected] .

Thanks for your interest in supporting SRP students on your campus! Please view our Partners page to learn more. You can also reach out to [email protected] and share with us what institution you are from and how you would like to get involved. We would be happy to connect you to a Local Committee that may already exist on your campus, and/or support you to implement the SRP at your institution.

Occasionally, WUSC will issue an Expression of Interest (EOI) to identify a local service provider or an implementing partner organization who operate in one of the SRP’s source countries. These EOIs will be issued through local channels and websites by WUSC. Please follow WUSC’s social media sites for this and other announcements.

Thank you for your interest in working or volunteering for WUSC. Please note that all information about career opportunities will be listed on our website https://wusc.ca/careers . For volunteering opportunities in Canada and internationally, please visit our website https://wusc.ca/volunteer .
